THE SLACKERS

December 19 @ 6:30 pm - 11:00 pm Broken Goblet

FW Shows and Broken Goblet present The Slackers for a scorcher just in time to get you in the right mood for the holidays.

Formed in 1991 in New York City, The Slackers sound incorporates elements of traditional Jamaican ska, rock steady, and reggae with rock ‘n roll and boogaloo influences. Known for their high-energy live performances and soulful, heartfelt lyrics, their most recent LP release, 2022’s Don’t Let the Sunshine Fool Ya continues to show the band in top form.

The Bandulus are the brainchild of Jeremy Peña, formerly of Los Skarnales and the Trenchtown Texans and will be featuring Jesse Wagner, widely known  frontman for Los Angeles’ dirty reggae outfit The Aggrolites. Peña ventured out on his own to create the traditional ska, reggae, and soul sensation that is The Bandulus. Their first full length album, Ska. Reggae. Soul, was released in 2010 and featured a smattering of well-respected musicians including The Slackers’ Vic Ruggiero and Willy Camero, Patrick Kelly, and Jonny Meyers of The Stingers ATX. The Bandulus’ music is a mix of Motown and Jamaica, with lively grooves, stirring melodies, and spirited singing that often conveys themes of love and heartbreak.

Thee Heart Tones are a Chicano Soul band from Hawthorne, California. All under 20 years old, they represent a new era of Soul music, influenced by the sounds of their own generation which they incorporate into songs that hold court with some of the finest in the genre.
